Franconian Wine Festival 2026: 5 Days of Enjoyment in Volkach
From 14 to 18 August Volkach once again transforms into Franconia's wine capital. What to expect at the wine festival and why an overnight stay at the winery makes the difference.
The largest wine festival on the Mainschleife
When in mid-August the old town of Volkach glows in warm lights and the scent of Silvaner and Franconian specialties drifts through the streets, it's that time again: the Franconian Wine Festival opens its doors.
From 14 to 18 August 2026 the region's winemakers will present their best wines. Over 30 wine stands invite you to sample.
What to expect
The wine festival traditionally begins on Thursday evening with the barrel tapping. Friday and Saturday are the main days with a programme that runs late into the night. Sunday is for families.
Highlights 2026:
- Over 30 wine stands from regional winemakers
- Live music on three stages
- Franconian specialties from bratwurst to Schäufele
- Parade on Sunday afternoon
Tip: Stay overnight instead of driving
If you want to properly enjoy the wine festival, leave your car behind. From the hotel you can reach the old town within a few minutes on foot.
After a long evening at the festival you can stroll back at your leisure. The next morning you'll find the breakfast buffet at the Restaurant 1917.
And if you're looking for relaxation after the hustle and bustle: the Infinity-Pool and the sauna area are available to you during the festival days as well.
