Spring Awakening at the Mainschleife
Spring at Weingut Römmert: bud break in the vineyards, cycling along the Mainschleife and mild evenings on the terrace. What makes spring in Volkach so special.
Spring at the Mainschleife: When the Vineyards in Volkach Awaken
The first warm rays of sun, tender green in the vineyards and the scent of spring in the air. At the Mainschleife, everything starts moving again. Nature, the kitchen, life outdoors.
Here is our honest look at spring at Weingut Römmert. What is happening in the vineyards right now, why the Mainschleife is best explored by bike, and what makes spring here so special.
What Is Happening in the Vineyards Right Now
For us at the winery, spring is the beginning of everything. As soon as temperatures rise, work begins in the vine rows. The vines are pruned, the soil is tended, the shoots are trained. It is the quiet, careful work that months later will be tasted in the glass.
Anyone who visits us during these weeks experiences the estate in its most original form: winemakers between the vine rows, the shell limestone warm underfoot, the first green against a blue sky. The vineyard reveals a side you don't see in summer or autumn. Raw, alive, full of beginnings.
Active at the Mainschleife: Cycling, Walking, Exploring
Spring is the best time to experience the Mainschleife actively. Temperatures are pleasant, the paths are clear and the landscape is at its most beautiful. Whether by bike, on foot or on a day trip to Volkach, movement and enjoyment go hand in hand here.
New from April: Bicycles are now available to hire at our hotel, so you can set off directly from the estate. Well-maintained cycle paths lead along the Mainschleife through vineyards, small wine-growing villages and along the Main. A round trip takes two to three hours depending on the route. Just right for an active morning before heading to the wellness area in the afternoon.
And on foot? Stroll through Volkach's old town, walk the vineyard paths above the Main, take in the view across the Mainschleife. Along the way, small churches, historic sites and cosy wine taverns invite you to linger. More ideas for activities and excursions around our hotel can be found on our website.
Spring on the Terrace
What wasn't possible in winter is back: sitting outside. The terrace becomes the finest spot at the estate. Breakfast in the morning sun as the vineyards lie in the early light. A glass of wine in the afternoon, the scent of blossoms in the air. Dinner al fresco in the evening.
The evenings grow noticeably longer. By late May it stays light until past nine. Long enough for a second glass and a conversation that doesn't need to hurry.
Wellness After a Day Outdoors
After a morning in the vineyards or on the bike, the sauna feels different than in winter. The muscles are warm from walking, the air outside is mild. The shift between activity and rest has its own rhythm in spring. At the pool you notice the difference: the sun is already higher, light comes through the windows that was missing in January. The perfect way to end an active day — in our spa & wellness area with pool and saunas.
