IFH/Intherm 2026: Hotel with Vineyard Instead of Car Park

IFH/Intherm 2026: Hotel with Vineyard Instead of Car Park

Nuremberg fills up for IFH/Intherm in April 2026. Stay 80 km away in Volkach, pay less, park for free, and still arrive at the trade fair on time.

Why Volkach When the Trade Fair Is in Nuremberg?

IFH/Intherm takes place from 14 to 17 April 2026 in Nuremberg. 37,500 visitors are expected, and this year the trade fair celebrates its 50th anniversary. That means: hotel beds in and around Nuremberg are snapped up early, and what remains is priced accordingly.

Volkach is 80 kilometres from Nuremberg. Via the A3, that is about 50 minutes depending on the time of day. Not around the corner, but not a day trip either. Anyone who does not want to sleep in a city box in the evening and sit in traffic in the morning will find a different way to get through trade fair days here.

Weingut Römmert is right at the edge of Volkach, in the heart of the Main Loop. The vineyard practically starts at the garden fence. April in Franconia means: the vines are just budding, the soil smells of earth, and the air is clear. No comparison to an exhibition hall.

How Far Is Volkach from the Nuremberg Trade Fair?

The distance is about 80 kilometres. Via the A3 towards Würzburg, exit 74 Kitzingen/Schwarzach, then about 10 kilometres on country roads to the hotel. Leave at 7:30 a.m. and you will be at the exhibition grounds before 9:00 a.m. Parking is available right at the hotel, so you can set off quickly in the morning.

The Nuremberg Exhibition Centre is easily reached from the A9, everything is signposted. The last kilometres through the city take time, depending on when you arrive. Arriving around 9:00 a.m. avoids the worst morning traffic.

For the return journey: anyone who does not want to get stuck in rush hour traffic should leave either before 4:30 p.m. or wait until after 6:30 p.m. In Volkach, there is a reason to wait – the Restaurant 1917 opens at 7:00 p.m.

Parking Right at the Hotel

At Weingut Römmert, there are parking spaces right in front of the building. No multi-storey car park, no circling through town. Anyone heading to the trade fair in the morning is in the car within two minutes.

What Awaits You After a Long Trade Fair Day?

Eight hours of exhibition hall, exhibitor meetings, product presentations, networking, noise. IFH/Intherm is not a relaxed event – it is intense. Anyone who ends up in a busy city hotel in the evening, in a room with a view of a courtyard and traffic noise through the window, does not necessarily sleep better than the night before.

Weingut Römmert works differently. The rooms are quiet, most face the vineyard or the courtyard. In the evening you hear birds, not tram noise. The Main valley is a two-minute walk away; anyone wanting a breath of fresh air after dinner walks a few hundred metres along the river.

This is not a sales promise, simply the situation: Volkach is a small town, 8,000 inhabitants, no nightlife that disturbs hotel sleep.

Franconian Cuisine at Restaurant 1917

Restaurant 1917 is named after the winery's founding year. The kitchen is Franconian, focusing on regional ingredients. No trade fair buffet, no menu with 40 items that all taste the same.

A typical evening: pan-fried char from the Steigerwald, accompanied by a glass of dry Silvaner from the estate. Or the schnitzel from the neighbouring farmer, a measure of Franconian beer, and the trade fair is out of your mind for two hours.

Anyone wishing to invite colleagues or business partners for dinner who are not staying at the hotel is welcome. The restaurant is also open to external guests. Table reservations are recommended, especially during trade fair week.

Wine Tasting as Evening Entertainment

The winery produces Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Scheurebe, Spätburgunder and other varieties. The vines grow on the shell limestone soils of the Main Loop, which gives the wine a mineral note that is typical of the region and tastes like nowhere else.

In the winery's Vinothek, hotel guests can taste the wines. That is not the same as a glass at the hotel bar. During a guided tasting, you learn about the vintage, the differences between the vineyard sites, and what makes the Main Loop special as a wine-growing area. A classic tasting lasts about 90 minutes. Prices and dates on request.

For groups or teams, private tastings are available on request. Some companies use this as an informal evening for their trade fair team before heading back to the exhibition grounds the next morning. Less formal than a corporate dinner, more authentic than visiting a wine bar in town.

Nuremberg Trade Fair Accommodation: What Does a Room Cost?

Trade fair prices in Nuremberg are no secret. Anyone searching for a room near the exhibition grounds in the weeks around IFH/Intherm often pays between 150 and 250 euros per night, sometimes more. That applies even to mid-range hotels without a special location.

In Volkach, the situation is more relaxed, and that shows in the price. On top of that comes breakfast with regional products, spacious rooms, and quiet nights. What money cannot buy is the atmosphere: morning coffee with a view of the vineyard, rather than a car park exit.

This is not a call for thrift, but a different calculation. Anyone spending four nights during trade fair time in Nuremberg, coming back exhausted to the hotel every evening, will ask themselves by the third day whether that was really the best solution.

IFH/Intherm Hotel: What Makes the Winery the Right Choice?

IFH/Intherm is the trade fair for the HVAC trade – sanitation, heating, climate. Around 400 exhibitors are coming to Nuremberg in 2026; the anniversary is also attracting visitors who do not come every year. The demand for hotel rooms in the region is correspondingly high.

Weingut Römmert has hosted trade fair guests on several occasions in recent years, without having specifically advertised it. Word has spread: anyone who has once felt the difference between an anonymous business hotel and a room with a vineyard view comes back deliberately on their next trade fair visit.

The location in Franconia also makes sense for anyone planning customer appointments in the region before or after the trade fair. Würzburg is 30 kilometres away, Kitzingen is halfway to Nuremberg, Schweinfurt can be reached in 40 minutes. You combine the trade fair with visits without having to start from Nuremberg each time.

April in Franconia: Not a Bad Time

By mid-April, spring is in full swing in Franconia. The Main Loop is particularly beautiful at this time: the vine slopes are freshly green, the fruit trees are blossoming, and the weather often cooperates on an April afternoon. Anyone adding an extra day after the trade fair on Thursday or Friday can take a guided vineyard walk or simply sit by the Main.

Volkach itself has a historic old town with city walls, a market square, and the pilgrimage church Maria im Weingarten out on the loop. Not a huge selection, but pleasant if you do not want to jump straight back into the car after four days of trade fair.

Getting There and Practical Details

The address is Erlachhof 1a, 97332 Volkach. From the A3, take exit 74 Kitzingen/Schwarzach. It is then about 10 kilometres to the hotel. The satnav will take you straight to the car park.

Check-in is possible from 3:00 p.m. Restaurant 1917 is also open to guests not staying at the hotel; a short advance notice or table reservation is still advisable.

For those arriving by train: the nearest station is Kitzingen, from there it is 18 kilometres by taxi or rental car. For four trade fair days, having your own vehicle is a clear advantage.

For groups or business travellers attending IFH/Intherm as a team, room blocks are available on request. Contact the winery directly – availability during trade fair week is limited.

Hotel Near Nuremberg: Book Now

IFH/Intherm takes place in April, and Nuremberg is full that week. Anyone waiting until mid-March often has no sensible options left in the city. In Volkach, capacity is smaller, which means: those who book early get their choice of rooms.

A double room for four nights, breakfast included, parking right at the hotel, Franconian cuisine in-house, wine tasting on request. The drive to the trade fair takes 50 minutes, and the evening belongs to the vineyard.

Check availability and book a room now for IFH/Intherm 2026.
